Back at the spring, Homura is confronted by Asuka, who uses underhanded means in order to defeat her and keep her out of the tournament. Meanwhile, yōma hunter Kagura is approached by a mysterious woman named Fubuki, who invites her to the tournament to face off against the ultimate yōma. Afterwards, Yumi comes across Asuka, the only one not captured by the pair, whose sense of justice has been shattered by her defeat.įollowing a heated conflict with Asuka, Yumi comes across Homura, who invites her to a hot spring to heal up her injuries. The girls are then confronted by Gekkō and Senkō, who announce that they are holding the Hanzō girls as hostages to force everyone to take part in a Shinobi Masters tournament. Accepting the invitations, the three squads go to the resort together and have a water gun fight in which they aim to make their opponents' swimsuits transparent, which ultimately ends in a tie. Meanwhile, Homura's Crimson squad come up against Miyabi and her Hebijo squad during a mission, during which both teams receive the same invitations. Unaware of what happened to Asuka, Yumi and her Gessen squad receive a message inviting them to a spa resort. While Yumi searches for a present that Asuka dropped, the other Hanzō girls are suddenly attacked by two girls named Gekkō and Senkō, who then proceed to attack Asuka, completely overpowering her. I guess anything is a possibility at this point. Assuming that it actually was Asuka, and not some fake. If Homura heard what Asuka said to Yumi, I’d imagine that Homura would kick Asuka’s arse. Presumably someone is going to snap her out of it – I’d guess Homura. Asuka has suffered many defeats before, but she would always get back up and try again. From the games I have played, I don’t believe for a moment that Asuka would totally give up on her ideals, and therefore her friends. My biggest problem with this episode is Asuka.
I just hope that the Hanzo Academy shinobi get to have a far more active role in future episodes.
In this case, it was Senkou and Gekkou’s announcement of the Shinobi Masters. So for now, it seems that episodes will focus on fanservice first and foremost, with actual story generally taking place during the final act of each episode. Mirai certainly pulled her weight, and Haruka ending up on the receiving end of her own chemical was pretty amusing. Like I have already mentioned, this episode is an obvious nod to Peach Beach Splash – the water gun fight is dubbed Peach Beach Splash: Totally Nude Version, after all.
It has been a fair while since I have played Shinovi Versus, though. Ryona did come across as a bit extreme – I know she is masochistic, but I don’t recall it being to that level.
Seeing Homura’s Crimson Squad on a mission was neat, and I’m hoping we get to see more of that kind of thing – Homura’s brief scuffle with Miyabi was fairly neat. That brings episode 2 of SENRAN KAGURA SHINOVI MASTER to a close. Sword and shield are meaningless, or that’s what Asuka has seemed to convince herself. It seems that her defeat at the hands of Senkou and Gekkou has really affected her, as she says there is no justice for shinobi. She is relieved to see her safe, but Asuka isn’t exactly herself. Asuka tells Yumi she won’t let her participate in the Shinobi MastersĪfter that, Yumi ends up meeting with Asuka.
